As part of our CBR network, supported by Misereor, we were invited this year to participate in an exchange visit on Sumba Island. We selected Arfah as the leader of the visiting team, accompanied by two promising young leaders affected by leprosy: Nur Hikmah from Soppeng and Sri Wahyuni from Sinjai.
In Sumba, they met with NGOs from Eastern Indonesia and Timor-Leste in a program facilitated by Inge Lempp and Mbak Pupu from Misereor. The participants explored how different local organizations implement community-based and inclusive development approaches, sharing both their challenges and successes.
For our team, this experience greatly broadened their horizons. While the disabilities addressed by these organizations differ in many ways from the realities faced by people affected by leprosy, there was much to learn from their experiences and approaches. We are grateful for this valuable opportunity and sincerely thank Misereor for making it possible.
