PerMaTa South Sulawesi meets Minister of Health in Jakarta

June 2026. With support from the Sasakawa Health Foundation (SHF), PerMaTa joined a series of strategic meetings with national stakeholders to strengthen efforts against leprosy in Indonesia. The program began with a visit to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, where PerMaTa represented persons affected by leprosy (OYPMK) in preparing for the upcoming National Leprosy Conference. The conference will involve governors, ministries, and institutions nationwide, and is expected to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto, aiming to reinforce local government commitment.

PerMaTa also met the Ministry of Health to present its work in South Sulawesi and YDTI, highlighting programs on empowerment, stigma reduction, and community participation. At The Habibie Center, PerMaTa reviewed an educational comic manuscript to ensure messages reflect real OYPMK experiences. SHF further facilitated discussions with Arnold Putra on expanding public awareness through creative social media campaigns.

The series concluded with meetings with dermatologists and the Ministry of Health’s NTD directorate, focusing on challenges in managing leprosy reactions and improving patient care. These engagements strengthened collaboration among communities, government, health professionals, and partners, advancing the vision of an Indonesia free from leprosy, stigma, and discrimination. PerMaTa expresses deep gratitude to SHF for enabling OYPMK voices to be heard at the national level.
