Makassar, 28 January – World Leprosy Day. We received a visit from the German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ms Ina Lepel for the opening of the “Safe House” in the leprosy settlement of Jongaya, which was renovated by PerMaTa South Sulawesi-YDTI with financial support from the German Embassy in Jakarta. Young PerMaTa teams from all over South Sulawesi province celebrated with us! The Safe House serves as a place of rest and recuperation for people affected by leprosy in need, where they have peer support and access to health care. It shouldn’t be necessary these days, but it is and we thank everyone who helped renovate the old infirmary and polyclinic in the settlement!
