31 January 2022. World Leprosy Day is celebrated every last Sunday of January. With financial support from the Sasakawa Health Foundation and NLR Indonesia, YDTI and PerMaTa South Sulawesi organized a convoy of 6 cars and a number of motorcycles through 9 districts of South Sulawesi.
Over 200 people joined the journey in the different districts and rode for a while to help spread our message that leprosy can be cured and that stigma and discrimination must end.
We were wonderfully received and supported by the local PerMaTa branches and by the health authorities, especially the leprosy control programs. The young people affected by leprosy gave speeches and actively engaged with the people on the streets. A journey full of new experiences, community and fun!
