TLM NL: Support for reconstructive surgery and care in 2025

The Leprosy Mission Netherlands – Renewed Support for Health and Rehabilitation:

We are grateful for the continued and impactful support from The Leprosy Mission Netherlands, especially at a time when access to healthcare and rehabilitation for people affected by leprosy has become increasingly limited.

This vital partnership allows us to directly assist individuals with urgent medical and rehabilitation needs, including:

  • Providing nutritional support and supplements for young people experiencing recurrent ENL (Erythema Nodosum Leprosum) reactions,

  • Facilitating access to hospitals and other essential services, and

  • Offering reconstructive surgery packages for those with impairments in their hands, feet, or eyes.

In July 2025, we are honored to once again welcome Dr. Wim Theuvenet to Makassar, where he will collaborate with Tadjuddin Chaled Hospital and Dr. Iswahyudi to address complex surgical cases. Dr. Iswahyudi—one of the few, if not the only, surgeons in Indonesia specializing in leprosy-related reconstructive surgery—will remain available throughout the year to help restore function and dignity to those affected.

Together, we aim not only to heal physically, but to restore hope and confidence in the lives of people affected by leprosy.
