Joint Meeting in Malino with 9 PerMaTa district teams

In August, we held a vibrant and inspiring meeting in Malino with all our district teams. The gathering brought together the five long-established teams—Ambon, Bantaeng, Barru, Maros, and Pangkep—alongside the newer teams from Sidrap and Soppeng, and of course, our two newest additions: Bone and Sinjai.

The first day focused on getting to know each other, learning more about what PerMaTa stands for, and sharing personal experiences of living with leprosy. These sessions created a safe and open space for reflection, connection, and mutual understanding.

On the second day, we held a special session with the five older teams, who will soon continue their work independently without direct project support. Each team developed their own vision and mission statements, followed by a one-year action plan designed to help them engage with district governments and support one another in their ongoing efforts.

The gathering wasn’t just about planning—it was also about bonding. We enjoyed campfires, cooking together, and lots of laughter. Even the more reserved participants from Bone and Sinjai stepped out of their comfort zones and embraced the experience wholeheartedly. None of them regretted joining this meaningful and empowering event.

A heartfelt thank you to SHF and Misereor for making this possible!
