September 2025. As part of our young-agents-of-change project, supported by Sasakawa Health Foundation and Misereor, we are expanding our activities this year to the neighbouring province of West Sulawesi. Working closely with the local leprosy control programme, our teams visited more young people affected by leprosy in Polman district and invited them to a joint meeting. 14 young people affected by leprosy attended this meeting, which is a new record for us given the prevailing overwhelming self-stigma. The head of the health department, leprosy workers from the health centres of Polman and their supervisor were also there, providing tremendous help and motivation! Inspiring speeches by our team (all young people affected by leprosy) and some initially hesitant but heartfelt sharing by the young people affected from West Sulawesi, resulted in the establishment of a new team, the basis for PerMaTa Polman / West Sulawesi!!
