Our pilot project in Maros, supported by TLM NL, began in June with data collection after intensive training. The initiative aims to establish the most comprehensive database of persons affected by leprosy. After repeated training and in collaboration with health center staff and local government, the PerMaTa Maros team started to visit households and update records of individuals from the past 10–15 years, learning about their current situation. All data will be shared responsibly with local government services to strengthen support and planning.
Now after two months we recognised that this activity poses even more challenges than expected. Progress is slow and number and details of data we received from the health centres are fewer than hoped for. The Maros team is doing a great job, and we are supported now by a new data input officer, Nunu. But, to complete the activity in time, we will add a third data collection team from our office to the Maros team this August.
