We have been supported by VOICE to run a 3 month support project for people with disabilities and affected by leprosy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The main focus was on disseminating information because there were so many rumors about Corona. The Sipakatau team of young people affected by leprosy visited around 100 families in Gowa district to talk to them about Covid-19. They also asked about the needs of these people and tried to pass them on to the local government as much as possible, for example missing ID cards.
The government’s Covid-19 task force supported and facilitated the youth team’s activities in the community and found that they had greatly supported their work by directly visiting the homes of isolated and marginalized people.
